Dear Parents,
Good Afternoon! Just an update on the latest news in the third grade!
We will be reading the novel James and the Giant Peach as a supplement to the Reading Program. If your child does not have a copy of the novel at home, there will be starting on Wednesday additional copies at the school's Book Fair. All third graders must have a copy by Tuesday, March 23rd. Again, third graders are required to post two journal entries each week. I will be checking the blogs on Sunday of each week. Missing homework slips will be given for incomplete work.
In Math, we will finish our Unit on Geometry this week. The chapter test will be on Thursday, March 18th. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdayof this week there will be two eighth grade students available at lunch to assist third graders wanting additional reinforcement. Next week we will start a Unit on Multiplication. Students will learn to multiply with regrouping. Mastery of multiplication facts is a must!
Today the children were given a packet with step by step instructions on how to write a persuasive essay. Now the children are to choose their own topic and write a persuasive essay. The due date is Wednesday, March 24th. Please encourage your son/daughter to carefully follow the directions to this project. I will be looking forward to reading thirty well-written essays!
