This Week in the Third Grade

Religion-This week the children will prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday and learn more about the Season of Advent.

Reading-The selection this week is “Mom’s Best Friend”. The children will read the selection to identify the way a story is organized.

Math-We will begin a Unit on Graphing. The children will create bar, line, and circle graphs in class as well as in the Computer Lab using Microsoft Excel. Additionally, the children should master the four and five times tables this week. The timed test will be given on Wednesday, December 7th.

Language Arts- The children will begin a Unit on Verbs. We will also continue to write their Autobiographies. This week the topic is their Pre-School Years. The Graphic Organizer and Paragraph is due on Thursday, December 1st. The completed paragraph should be 8-12 sentences in length. We will type the corrected copy on Friday in the Computer Lab. The children have been told to interview their parents about their life as a pre-schooler. Suggested topics: Did your child have a favorite blanket, book, DVD? What were some activities that your child liked to do at home and in school? Does your child remember his/her friends? Did your families take a trip during these years?

Social Studies-We will begin our Study of the Cheyenne.

Science- We will finish our Unit on Ecosytems.
